Although highly irreverent throughout, what I loved most about Arabella is that she doesn't just go along with the social injustices she encounters in OZ. Unlike Dorthy who never questions the established hierarchy set up by Baum, Arabella addresses the hard questions head-on in a way that only a modern teenager could. She recognizes the inequality and inherent systems of oppression in OZ but instead of using them to her advantage, she tackles them. In the hands of a lesser author, Arabella could come off as crass or overbearing, but under Youngmark's care she is endearing and I found myself cheering for her throughout her time in OZ despite her sardonic attitude. Youngmark infuses humor throughout, with Arabella's obsession with meat pies and the Tin Man's sexy physique.
Highly recommend this book for older teens and adults looking for a fun, thought-provoking return to a childhood classic.

Good Points
Author Matt Youngmark does an incredible job of channeling his inner 15-year-old girl using feisty Arabella as his MC. Arabella questions everything in OZ, as would any good millennial teenager, making The "Wonderful" Wizard of Futhermucking Oz a real treat.
