Most of us have heard of Edmund Hilary, the first climber of Mount Everest. However, we may not know the name of his companion on the climb, a Sherpa man named Tenzing Norgay. As a boy Tenzing lived at the foot of the mighty mountain. He yearned to climb it one day. He practiced for years with a backpack weighted with rocks. Finally, he met Hilary who also dreamed of scaling the enormous mountain. Together, they accomplished their dream, climbing to the very top of Mount Everest.
This gorgeous book tells Tenzing's story in poetry so powerful, it may well bring tears to readers' eyes. The lovely artwork by Ed Young perfectly complements the text. An inspiring tribute, beautifully told, this volume is just plain wonderful.
