When a visit to the Tower of London triggers an overwhelmingly real vision of a beheading that occurred centuries before, Cole Ryan fears she is losing her mind. A mysterious boy, Griffon Hall, comes to her aid, but the intensity of their immediate connection seems to open the floodgate of memories even wider.

As their feelings grow, Griffon reveals their common bond as members of the Akhet—an elite group of people who can remember past lives and use their collected wisdom for the good of the world. But not all Akhet are altruistic, and a rogue is after Cole to avenge their shared past. Now in extreme danger, Cole must piece together clues from many lifetimes. What she finds could ruin her chance at a future with Griffon, but risking his love may be the only way to save them both.

Full of danger, romance, and intrigue, Transcendence breathes new life into a perpetually fascinating question: What would you do with another life to live?

I admit, I couldn't wait to read the next book by C.J. Omololu. I totally loved her more contemporary YA tale DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS. Her latest is no disappointment.

I love a good paranormal romance and TRANSCENDENCE handles this in an unique way by weaving in Cole's first encounter with the idea that she might have lived in a previous life. The beginning of this story is hooky with her revisiting her execution back in 1538. While there she meets hawt Griffon, who might have the answers to what she's been experiencing.

I loved both of the characters. Griffon is intriguing and very likeable as he opens himself up more and more to Cole. I also love that he's multicultural. An added plus. And if he looks anything like the cover, I can see why Cole's heart would beat fast.

Cole is an interesting character. I'm not sure how I'd handle it if I found out I had not one but a number of previous lives. Would I search out for my past family? Lovers? Friends?

Rayne is one of those best friends I'd love to have. Sure, she might be a tad bit trippy but she shows her loyalty to Cole even when others might run the other way.

The parents aren't showed in a negative way either. Yes, Cole's mother is a tad bit controlling but they both felt like real parents not caricatures that some YAs show.

There's twists and turns with revelations that surprised me. I love this! I hate 'knowing' who done it right at the beginning. Omololu does a great job of doing this!

C.J. Omololu told me a sequel is in the works! After reading the ending, I can't wait to see what happens next to Cole.

A page-turning mystery with the added bonus of a love that transcends time. Add to that a dash of the paranormal and you have a must read tale.
Good Points
1. Great twists and turns
2. Intriguing tale where the whole premise of reincarnation works
3. Sweet romance
4. Mystery with a dash of the paranormal thrown in

Transcendence by C.J. Omololu was a really intriguing spin on reincarnation all wrapped up in a story with delightful characters.

Transcendence has a really unique plot and twist on the whole reincarnation idea. I loved learning about the Akhet and all the characters past lives. I wanted the stakes to be higher. Parts of the story just felt a little flat to me. I did really enjoy it, I just felt like parts of the book were missing that spark that would take it to the next level.

I loved the characters. I loved Griffin - seriously, could he be any more adorable? I loved a lot of the more minor characters - like Rayne, Kat, and even Peter who only shows up for a short while. I just loved how real all the characters felt, no matter how small their role was.

C.J. Omololu has spun a really intriguing tale with Transcendence and I am really curious to see where the story will go from here in the sequel, Fated. Transcendence was fast paced and was an absolute page turner.
