With both of her parents working on Halloween, Janelle isn't sure what to do to celebrate the spooky holiday. Usually she goes trick-or-treating with her mother, but since she's working this year too, Janelle turns to her friends to advice. They give her three different options while inviting her to each one, like trick-or-treating in the apartments or going to a party. All of them sound great, but Janelle has something even better in mind.

TRICK-OR-TREATING IN THE CITY is an exciting look at all of the wonderous ways to celebrate Halloween while living in a city. Being from the country, I never imagined the possibilities city life offers and it makes me want to take a visit to one during Halloween to experience how different it is. This story is a heart-warming one full of friendship and family love as Janelle struggles to figure out what she should do and how to do it. With its adorable pictures and endearing text, this picture book incorporates the spirit of Halloween and its power to bring people together.


Final Verdict: I would recommend this to children four and up to share with their family during the Halloween season. It may even give them some ideas of new ways to have fun with family and friends.
