Every once in awhile I come across a book that I just can’t put down. It’s a fun read, a page-turner- my spring break, escape from the day-to-day book. Unaccompanied Minor is just that kind of book. I read the entire thing in one setting.
The plot is action-packed; sit on the edge of your seat, summer action movie kind of plot. It is enjoyable and humorous! Gillespie skillfully maintains this suspenseful plot as April is kidnapped, escapes, goes on the lam, and attempts to thwart a hijacking.
Hollis Gillespie does a fantastic job helping the reader understand the world of Airlines and their inner workings. The details of aircrafts and the world of flight attendants help set apart this book from others.
The best part: the narrator- April Mae. She is snarky and intelligent. She isn’t perfect but she can hold her own. Her side comments throughout the narrative drew me in and kept me reading.
This is a great read for tween and middle school readers. Adults will find this a fun and enjoyable read as well. Would definitely call this a great beach read! I am looking forward to reading the sequel – We Will Be Crashing Shortly.
Amy Mae is an unforgettable character and Unaccompanied Minor is a book you just can’t put down!
