Uncle Tom's Cabin, which tending towards the sterotypical and cliche, was entertaining and a one of the more "fun" classic reads. It was written as Civil War propaganda, which became increasingly obvious as the abolitionist author went on. Despite being an old, old book, and very much politically/morally/religiously slanted, it's still a pretty neat storyline and a thought-provoking premise.
