A little boy and girl find a seed. They play with it, but it doesn't grow.
Listening to the voice of nature, they learn to plant it in the earth, water it, and watch it sprout, growing bigger though the seasons. They are thrilled when it produces a huge flower, and sad when that flower fades and dies. But it has left them with a shower of new seeds so they can start all over again!

Bright and glowing illustrations and a rhyming text describe the life cycle of a plant and the emotions felt by young gardeners.

We Found a Seed is a great read for toddlers and preschool readers. The two children find a seed but don’t know how to make it grow. Finally, they plant it and they are happy it grows and sad when it dies, but it leaves behind more seeds with which they know just what to do. The illustrations feel earthy and communicate the emotions of the children well. The text contains one word or short phrases per page making it a great choice for the youngest of readers. The fact that the children don’t know at first how to plant a seed would make this book a great introduction to seeds before going and planting your own as a follow up activity.
