A lavish, keepsake collection of poetry, beautiful artwork, and unforgettable treasures from acclaimed children’s book author Michael Morpurgo, woven around a girl’s adventures on a countryside walk.

Pippa loves staying with her Aunty Peggy. She loves going for walks, whether it is sunny or cold — long, wandering walks where her wellies take her. Follow Pippa into the beautiful countryside as her day unfolds, and the wildlife, animals, and people she encounters are complemented by relevant poems from some of our greatest authors, personally chosen by Clare and Michael Morpurgo. Part poetry anthology, part children’s scrapbook, this is a truly lavish project designed to instill a love of language in young children.

I absolutely had no idea what to expect when I opened the pages of this book, and now I want to get it for every friend and all of my friends' children, it's that good!

Written in order to provide monies for a program that brings city children to live on a farm and learn the farming way of life in England, this book is so rewarding and refreshing. It is filled with all kinds of poems (a DEAR love of mine is poetry) about the outdoors, the wilderness, and wildlife. As I turned each beautifully wrought page, done in an enchanting scrapbook style, I was literally transported to my own childhood, my soul aching with the memories of my many, many jaunts over hill and dale, playing in streams and creeks and fields, exploring my world with a freedom virtually unknown these days. I found myself desperate to give this gift to my children: the gift of the outdoor world. I felt guilt and sadness at how much my children have missed of this life already. We are so caught up in our technology, our screens...and we all know it. But do we know how easy it would be to change that by simply setting foot out our doors? As you can see, this book holds power, maybe even more so for the adults reading it. It is absolutely beautiful and motivates you in your very soul to take your children outside and explore the wonders of the natural world. You will NOT be disappointed if you pick up this book. I will be recommending it to many!
