Eight friendly kids welcome the reader to explore their neighborhood. Which errands need to be done at the library? The museum, the post office? Each destination is described from a kid's perspective (the post office is for mailing packages and boring government forms), with a large look-and-find type illustration and related historical facts.
Some locations are very familiar, but others such as the observatory might be less common, and I enjoyed the variety. The history/facts page for each site is also super informative. Turning the page from colorful illustrations to see a big blocks of text can be a little intimidating, but the different headings/categories are quite succinct and digestible, and if not every word gets read during bedtime stories, then that just leaves something fun to learn the next time.
If you're looking for a more modern What Do People Do All Day mixed with Where's Waldo, pick this up.
