William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night

Feste the fool may be a fool by title, but he isn't foolish. He's an entertainer who knows everybody's secrets because people overlook him. They aren't afraid to reveal their secrets in front of him while he listens to every word. Feste's job is to try to cheer up Countess Olivia, who many are trying to court even though she's too sad to think about relationships. That is, until she meets Cesario. But Feste knows Cesario isn't who everyone thinks he is. Instead of a man, Cesario is a girl in disguise who finds herself falling for the Duke who's courting Olivia. In a case of mistaken identity, hearts just want to find happiness and thankfully everything falls into place in the end.

While I love Shakespeare, the text is very garbled and difficult for children to understand. The author does an amazing job at condensing and summarizing WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S TWELFTH NIGHT into a children's picture book so they get the plot without getting confused. The illustrations are beautifully detailed and vibrant to match the humorous text. We get to see our beloved characters in picture format which is something I enjoyed while I read it to my daughter. Shakespeare is like the OG creator of rom-coms and this one was always one of my favorites. I'm happy to see it in a format where children can understand it too.


Final Verdict: WILLIAM'S SHAKESPEARE'S TWELFTH NIGHT is a classical rom-com that has been morphed into a version for children ages six and up to enjoy. It's good to read to younger children too but they may not understand the concepts of the plot and mistaken identities. Overall, I would recommend this to children who like classics, theater, comedy, and romance.
