You Are a Robin takes you inside the world of being a Robin from egg to parenthood. The pictures are bright and lively and clearly show you the steps of Robin’s life cycle. I was confused with the aside drawings of children acting out the words because the illustrations were so clear about what Robin was doing step by step that the words would be easy to learn. However, I can also see that illustrations of kids acting out the parts could inspire the reader to also want to pretend to be a Robin which would reinforce what they learned from reading the book. I like that the common North American bird was chosen to be highlighted. There is a wide audience who can look out their window whether they live in the country or city and all over many states to learn more about what they see in their backyard giving this book a wide appeal. Overall, this informative text for young readers was very clear in helping young readers understand the robin from egg to being a parent themselves.
