Reisil has worked hard her entire life to earn the title tark. When Saljane, a goshawk, enter's Reisil's life as her ahalad-kaaslane, a sign that the Blessed Lady has chosen her, she feels that everything she has worked hard for was going to be taken away. Reisil rejects the Blessed Lady's gift and in doing so, rejects Her wisdom. However, as Reisil soon finds out, her destiny was already written out. She soon embarks on a journey becoming ahalad-kaaslane and finds that the future of her homeland, Kodu Riik, lies in her decisions. During the long, hard journey to save Kodu Riik and Ceriba, Reisil learns of friendship, trust, betrayal and what it really means being an ahalad-kaaslane.
