Rebecca is positive that she's found the perfect guy, and no amount of advice from her best friend Celeste will change her mind (as in, she's barely even talked with the guy before and he hardly knows she exists&and she's about to become his sister). When Rebecca's mom marries Pres' dad and they all move in together as one big happy family, Rebecca is sure that Pres will discover his love for her.
But things dont seem to go exactly as planned. Pres is nice and wonderful, but he treats her like a sister. Her new stepfather seems awfully strict, but Rebecca holds her tongue, not wanting to shake the boat. Only Josh, Celeste's brother and Pres' best friend, seems to be paying any real attention to her.
In fact, Josh is always there when she needs him and by the end of the book, Rebecca finally realizes that her perfect guy is there&he's just not the one she thought he was.
The reader, of course, has realized this long, long ago, which is my only little complaint about the book. I spent a good deal of it wanting to knock some sense into Rebecca. She strongly believes in the power of positive thinking, but sometimes you just have to look at reality¬ to mention the guy right in front of your nose.
Girls aged 10 and up looking for a little romance will enjoy this one.

The Perfect Guy is the story of a girl who thinks that her new step-brother is the "perfect guy" for her, but she learns that what she wants and what will make her happy are not necessarily the same thing.
Told with humor and many twists to the plot, it's easy to see why The Perfect Guy won the International Reading Association/Children's Book Council "Children's Choice" award and the American Library Association "Recommended Book for Reluctant Readers" award.

I love this book! its about a girl named Rebecca. Her mom is getting married to Pres's(her crush) dad. Rebecca is so sure that he has strong feelings for her and that they are finally going to get together. Her best friend doesnt seem to think that Pres likes her and she tries to make her face reality.
