On the heels of their thrilling appearance in Rhythm of Time, best friends Rahim and Kasia are back traveling through time in Time for a Change. Last time around, they were on their own—now they are working with Aevum, a mysterious organization from the future that tasks them with averting disaster and safeguarding the flow of history.

The first assignment sends Rahim to Hawaii to recover a rock that Aevum insists is key to stabilizing the future. But things take a dramatic turn when he inadvertently jeopardizes the mission, thrusting him and Kasia into a web of intrigue populated by a diverse cast of time-travelers with their own enigmatic motives. There are doppelgängers from parallel dimensions. There are robots who may be allies but may be enemies. Time For a Change wastes no time jumping back into the world of Rahim and Kasia’s time
traveling adventures. Readers follow the friend’s journey of trying to figure out the
mysterious organization of Aevum and how it ties to their future selves. But when the two
end up on another mission, everything that could go wrong does and it’s up to them (and
the help of friends) to fix everything before it’s too late.

The second installment of this series is a fast-paced whirlwind that never slows down until
the end. Cosby and Questlove up the ante with new futurists gadgets and action-packed
chases that are full of high suspense. They do a great job of adding in some new characters
and continuing to develop the main characters as well. I feel like in this novel we truly get to
see Kasia and Rahim shine and how their close friendship is tested in times of trouble.

While the main theme of the The Rhythm of Time was about following your dreams, this
novel focuses more on how knowledge is power. One of the main quotes that will stick out
to readers from the dialogue is, “I think we should always try to find out what we are
capable of, but that doesn’t mean we should do it.” Kasia and Rahim are forced to come to
terms with the full weight of their time travel can do and how it will affect everyone. They
realize how much of a greater responsibility they’ve taken on and work to rise to the
challenge.

Besides the sci-fi elements and suspense, readers will love how fun and adventurous this series continues to be. It’s imaginative and humorous, and the high stakes keep you engaged with the story. I’m curious to see what happens next! This is a middle grade series full of heart and epic quests that I highly recommend.
