Hollywood Hustle (Son of the Mob #2)

Hollywood Hustle is a huge DISAPPOINTMENT. DON'T READ THIS BOOK. IT'S SUCH A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. DON'T EVEN BOTHER READING IT.

Why?

Problem #1: Less humor as the previous book. Son of The Mob was delightful and free-spirited. This book was more serious and a little more moodier.

Problem #2: I felt that this book wasn't as innocent as it use to be. In Son of the Mob, the innocence was one characteristic that made the book must more addicting to read. Now it just feels as if this book has gone from Children's Fiction to Adult's Fiction. Or at least Young Adult Fiction. The growth of inappropriateness has gone bananas.

Problem #3: Gordon Korman has let the character off the hook too easily. Vince was involved with the mob and he gets away with it. He's not exactly the type of person who is good at hiding secrets especially with FBI agents spying on him. Vince also cheated on his girlfriend, Kendra. Kendra let Vince off the hook way to easily too. What kind of girl would let her boyfriend off the hook if the boyfriend has cheated with another woman? Where is the logic is this situation?

Problem #4: Vince went to college or "university" because of his website. All the sudden, this book starts with Vince abilities to do directing. What happen to creating a website? Where is the logic, Mr. Gordon?

Problem #5: The father... Seriously? You have children and you are still with the mob? Isn't that a little too dangerous. And you also butcher someone while your son's girlfriend is over for dinner. That's wonderful. Tortured screams while you drink orange juice. Imagine that.

Problem #6: The FBI... Over the events of the past two books, you should have received enough evidence to put Anthony Lucas in prison.

Problem #7: Tommy/Vince's stupidity... Vince has repeated this phrase over and over again that once you are in the mob, you are in for live. It's the Life. This applies to Tommy. Tommy, seemly quit mob Life, began to appear normal. Vince was stupid enough to actually believe his act. Once you are in the mob, you are in for life. What happen to your motto, Vince? Isn't it clear that Tommy was just trying to do something horrible and inhumane? Gosh, Vince, you are getting worse over the years.

Problem #8: The logic of Hollywood Hustle... I believe that is all I need to say.

The good stuff...

Goodie #1: The plot is good and smooth. It is easy to understand for young children.

Goodie #2: Movie Scripts in Hollywood Hustle... It is refreshing to see these scripts instead of the paragraphs I am used too.

Goodie #3: The mob. I love how the mobs just keeps on following Vince. With the mob coming over for dinner, things will never die down. It is so amusing to see or to hear them talk about their education. That was a good moment.

Hollywood Hustle receives a one out of five. What a disappointment.

Although i didn't get the chance to read the first book i still thought that this book was good. It was filled with family issues and a lot of comedy. I found myself laughing at the stupid things that the characters did.
In "Son of the Mob: Hollywood Hustle," Vince goes away to college. And by AWAY i mean across the country. (from New York to California) The reason is because his dad is the boss of a very successful mob and he doesn't want to get mixed into that. He finds himself trying to save the life of a politician, change the image of his family, and tries not to betray his new roommate.
Read this book and get to know Vince, the guy who doesn't want to be like the rest of his family. It really does catch some interest and is worthy of your time.

Vince Luca is finally going to practically be in heaven or so he thinks. Getting away from his father and the crazy mob life will be easy for Vince, hopefully. Since he is now moving to L.A. to go to college for film school. The mob lifestyle seems to some how follow to L.A. Even 3,000 he still cannot get away.

This story was incredibly entertaining to read. I reccomend it to anyone who wants a good laugh.

Vince is a film student in California, has a beautiful girlfriend, and life is good. Except for one thing. Vince's dad is in the "vending machine" business. Also known as the mob. Vince wants nothing to do with his family's life of crime. Yet it seems to follow him everywhere. His schoolwork and his personal life are constantly being dominated by his gangster "uncles." To complicate things more, his girlfriend, Kendra, is the daughter of an FBI agent. . . the very agent assigned to arrest his father!
Vince's hectic life is quite amusing at times. The supporting characters are very funny, especially his kleptomaniac of a roommate, Trent. It's strange to see the difficult situation a person would be in, trying to escape the mob. Sometimes, Vince is lucky, with his mob connections saving his butt, and other times, he barely stays out of prison. Hollywood carries a minor subplot involving former Beatle Ringo Starr. The ending manages to be satisfying while not being corny.
Hollywood Hustle (Son of the Mob), is actually a sequel to Korman's book Son of the Mob. Though that book was also very good, there is no need to read it first. I didn't. The characters of this book, though nothing like anyone most people have met, seem real. These are people who could step out of the book and greet you (or mug you, but you get the idea). This book is an easy, but gripping read. I recommend it.

A good follow-up to the first Son of the Mob book. Vince is off at college and he has to deal with the pressures of a strained relationship with Kendra and his new roommate, the son of a senator with a pathological theft problem. Then out of nowhere, a bunch of the old vending machine business crew show up in his dorm room and it all spirals down from there. On top of all that, he still has to pass his mid-terms! Can Vince cope, or will the craziness of life on his own be too much?

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed in this book. After the first one, I thought this one was going to be just as exhilarating and hilarious. It's been a while since I read the first book, so I might've matured slightly and it's all on me then, but I definitely found this book lacking of things that made the first a great read.

However, it was still a great great read, and for anyone who's looking for more of Son of the Mob kind of stuff, go for it, it just might surprise you.

At first Vince goes off to college happy to get away from his father's mob. His roommate, Trey, is the son of a congressman which makes things difficult. As things go on Vince's relationship with his girlfriend, Kendra goes downhill and inevitably, he gets mixed up with an evil scheme. Tommy, his brother, decides to stay at his dorm for a while and Vince tries to keep Tommy as well as the rest of his "uncles" away from Trey. Trey has a knack for "five finger discounts" and Vince doesn't want his roommate joining the mob. This book was hilarious and I would recommend it to anyone.

A rolicking good romp out in California with the mob! Vince told us all about his family and
about The Life in his first book, with many hilarious anecdotes. This second book is no
exception. Vince has decided to try to escape his family by going as far away as possible
to L.A. to film school. Unfortunately, his plan backfires, as much of his family seems to
follow him to the west coast. Hes not sure what theyre up to, but he is sure his life is going
to be entangled in it and the mob lifestyle somehow. This is a fun read, and character development is good, as well as storyline and suspense. This is not a sequel that disappoints!

Fans of the first Son of the Mob book will be glad to see the return of Vince deLuca and his extended "family". Vince has gone away to film school as far away from his father's vending machine business as possible, yet somehow he can't break completely free. His brother comes to visit, his mother sends food, and there's an uncle using his bathroom. Not to mention that his roommmate is the son of a Senator, and there's this hot senior who really really likes Vince. This book is better than the first one, and readers will enjoy Vince's adventures in California.
