Forrest Harper is the eleven- year- old son of the Ravenmaster, Hagh Harper. He grew up in the shadow of the Tower of London, playing in the moat and attending hangings with his family. His best friend, known simply as Rat, is the Tower's rat catcher and the two boys imagine adventures together.

I was of the correct age to read this book when it was first published. I never did, though, preferring to let my friends summarize it as I read other types of stories. I promised myself I would read it eventually but it was not until I saw a paperback copy (available for only two dollars!) at the eighth grade book fair that I read it.

I think that this is a great book, both interesting and exciting, though I will admit that anyone over the age of twelve should consider it an easy read.
