Scat
User reviews
In his latest YA novel, Scat, Carl Hiaasen continues his exploration into Floridas environmental issues. This time, it involves a Florida swamp and the state-protected black panther. Hiaasens tale contains the same wit and mystery of his previous two young adult novels, making Scat just as enjoyable to read.
When Ms. Starch, the most feared teacher at Truman School, disappears after a confrontation with a student, Nick Waters immediately suspects foul play. He enlists the help of his friend, Marta, and two begin investigating the strange disappearance. The pair soon finds itself embroiled in a unique mystery full of twists and turns, fascinating characters and life lessons. From cover to cover, I enjoyed Hiaasens latest literary ride and cant wait to recommend it to my middle school students.
