This symbolized classic edition of FRANKENSTEIN is a fun new way to tell the classic story for young readers. The text is very large on each page with pictures above each word to help show what is happening. While readers can read the words, they can also go by pictures to help with context clues.

What I loved: This is a clever adaptation of FRANKENSTEIN that helps to make the classic approachable and readable for young readers. This symbolized version in particular simplifies the story and uses pictures to help independent readers to dive into the story on their own. For reluctant readers, those starting out, or those who need a little help, this is a fantastic choice to really help them to dive in and more confidently read the story. The book is shortened and simplified with large font as well, which also really helps with the reading while maintaining the original plot.

Final verdict: This symbolized classic edition of FRANKENSTEIN is an approachable and engaging new way to digest the classic that will work well for young readers. Clever use of images, a large, clear font, and illustrations bring the classic story to new audiences.
