A Horse Called Now is a book about living in the present and enjoying the “now.” The animals on the farm all come in a hurry and scurry afraid that a predator may be after them and that there is danger. The horse named Now calmly has them look around and enjoy the present where there is no danger. When a storm arises then they take the proper actions to stay safe until it passes.
This simple tale reflects on a much deeper concept of not letting anxiety rule your actions and taking deep breaths, looking around you and enjoying your present. This book would be great in conjunction with a study on mindfulness and other books that help you recognize and positively handle your emotions. Overall, this book would be great for early elementary children who are learning how to regulate their emotions and to stay in the “now.”
