A Minor Detail

A Minor Detail is a coming-of-age YA novel set in 2005–2006, following a fourteen-year-old girl navigating the uncertain space between who she was and who she might become, all while quietly carrying a recent trauma she refuses to name. With her old friendships fading and high school beginning, she is drawn into a world of thrifted band tees, burned CDs, and cryptic instant messages when she is befriended by the school’s so-called “Goth Girl.” Through new music, evolving friendships, and a complicated first romance, she begins to question where she fits, and whether she’s willing to shrink herself to belong.
