This book was nothing what I expected it to be and is one of those books where I'm glad I kept reading. The more I engaged in the story, the more I enjoyed it.

Adapted is such an appropriate name for this book because that's really what it is. Claudia adapting to her new life. She never had a real family or real friends. The one time she thought she would have a family, it did not end well. At the research center, Dr. J could only be so much of a friend.

Once Claudia escapes and finds her biological father, she finds a home. And with that home, she finds friends - and something more.

This book is about Claudia, finding herself. And I thought it was really well done. The way Claudia has to learn to navigate this new life is the heart of this book.

There are some scenarios throughout the book that I had trouble understanding the possibility except that it was needed for the story. However, pushing those issues aside and focusing on the relationship building is what makes this story shine.

I would recommend this book if you are a character driven reader and enjoy a main character really finding her own.
