*She is the middle child in the family
*She has an older sister who is the most popular girl in school, and a little sister who is a genius
*Her parents and other people do not like her the most because she wears all black showing that she mourns todays society
*Her old sis, Lucy, and young Rebecca, herself, Samantha (Sam)
*One day, Lucy shows her parents a drawing that she made, and she is very good, so parents make her take art classes with a teacher who only wants her to draw what she sees and not what she wants to draw in her heart
*She hates the teacher
*She loves Ska music
*She lives Washington D.C.
*She has a crush on Lucys boyfriend, Jack, whom she thinks would be better with her because they both are artists and she wont abandon him.
*One day she skips class, hangs out at a music store, and listens to samples of her favorite songs.
*She sits at the curb and waits for Theresa to pick her up, and then the president goes into Capitol Cookies, which she thinks is strange, since he should probably order them and get them delivered. It is raining too.
*Then this person next to her pulls out a big gun from under his rain poncho and aims for the president. Sam, though never brave or poking in other peoples stuff, jumps him, and accidentally breaks her wrist, and saves the president from a direct hit to the head.
*Now she is very popular. In the hospital, all of the presidents guards guard her since the man couldve been part of a terrorist group, which might now want revenge.
*She is shocked to find millions of reporters and other people outside of the hospital. She is getting many gifts. She had never had this much attention.
* She has now turned from the most unpopular person ever to the most popular person ever

SUMMARY: Samantha Madisons life was the pits. She had a cheerleader older sister and a genius younger sister. Her family disapproves of her wardrobe (which was all nicely protestant black) and she was flunking German, a language that was probably useless to her anyways. To make things worse, she just saved the president and suddenly everyone thinks shes some kind of hero (NOT true!). Sam is appointed teen ambassador to the UN, which is really more of a name than a job, and everyone seems to think shes dating the presidents son!

This is a typical Meg Cabot story, so it was full of wit and humor. In All-American Girl the characters are solid and oh so very real. I winced and blushed at the embarrassing moments, sighed with glee at the romantic scenes, and just plain laughed out loud at the comedy. Loved it!

You have not lived untill you've read such an exelent novel. Sam's problems relate to every girl,every rebel, and every dreamer. I garentee you will not think the same way after reading this book because it willl move you forward on your continuing learning journey.

This was simply one of my favorite books from Meg Cabot. I've always imagined how it would be like to date the president's son. And not only that, but have everyone in the world know that you're the person that saved the president's life!! A very funny book, this book is recomended for those that are searching for a unexpected romance.

This book has all the makings of a tale of growth and experience. I love the way Sam has real people struggles. She is well rounded individule, and her spontanity is a great character flaw. I think it is to offset the prefection around her, which is a wonderful juxaposition.

Great book, I recomend the sequil, but not so much.

Hey everybody! I wanted to drop in and say, this book is amazing! I loved it! i could not put it down!! in one day i read over 200 pages!!! i really liked it! The only thing that annoyed me..just a tiny bit... was she kept saying, blah blah, i mean.. the i mean part bothered me. she said it 2 times or something on a lot of pages!! Well another thing that bothered me was that the sequal, ready or not, was too "sexual" for 12 year olds.. my older sister and mother said. my sister read it. and she said it was good but really gross.

Well i was dissopointed.
BUT I STILL LOVED THIS BOOK!!

Ok, first off, let me say Meg Cabbot has once again made a thrilling novel. Sam, rebellios teen who is in love with her sisters boy friend, is starting to understand more and more around her. of course this is all on acident (other wise how could it be so hilarius?)She starts art lessons (a punishment for those drawings.. well really the money behind it) anyway, she begins to like the classes with the cute guy named David in her class. until one day she skippes out and guess who she saves? the president. and guess who America loves? Sam. now she was never popular having only one good friend, who was equally tormented in high school, now Sam is faced with posar people who all want to be her friend. and the even BIGGER problem? she is falling in love.. now i wont say who(that would spoil the book) but it gets pretty obvios... until she finally thinks her life is over, and then she some how makes it all better (once again i shan't say how) a very good book, one of my favorites.. anything by Meg Cabbot is sure to be extreamly HILARIUS!!!

Sophomore Samantha Madison is redheaded, a middle child, left-handed, and in her opinion one of the only teenage girls left who have not succumbed to Abercrombie & Fitch and other fashion trends. She's a wannabe radical: she dyed her wardrobe black and she's in love with her popular older sister Lucy's boyfriend Jack, who's as "radical" as they get.

Sam thinks it's the end of her already lousy world when, as a punishment for bad grades, her parents send her to art lessons at Susan Boone's. Sam's a good artist, but she doesn't take well to criticism, and so when on the first day Susan Boone accuses her of not drawing what she knows, Sam decides not to come back. Ever.

Which turned out to be a good thing, because the next time she was hiding out from art lessons, she manages to stop an assassination attempt on the president.

All of a sudden Sam is the IT girl at her school, the US, the whole world. The president awards her the position of teen ambassador to the the UN and his cute son David (also in Susan Boone's art class) thinks there's something special about Sam. Only Sam knows there's nothing very heroic about her action. And she doesn't understand why David's being so nice to her, or why her heart skitters when he smiles at her, or why she felt so bad after David found out she had used him to make Jack jealous at a party. Because she's totally in love with Jack.

Right?

What fun ALL-AMERICAN GIRL is! People of all ages will enjoy this book. Samantha is an amazing protagonist, and her narration will pull you along like nothing ever had. Highly recommended!

Samatha Madison is a middle child stuck between a perfect cheerleader older sister and a super brainy younger sister. After her parents discover that her artistic talent is distracting her from her schoolwork, they enroll her in an art class, something she is very unhappy about. After all, she already knows how to draw! After skipping her second art class, she "happens" to save the life of the President of the United States when she jumps the guy who tries to shoot him. Soon, Samantha Madison becomes a household name around the world as the girl who saved the president's life. If that doesn't change her life enough, she discovers that she just might have feelings for the president's son (as much as she tries to deny it) who also happens to be in her art class!

This story is very realistic and at the same time very fairytale! It has everything you need- humor, romance, fame etc. I definitely recommend it. (I own it so I've read it like five times.)
