Are you looking for an advent calendar? An Animal a Day will take you through all 365 days of the upcoming year with a new animal per day. You’ll go through all the various ecosystems and habitats that make up our planet with fun facts and gorgeous illustrations of animals you know and some that are brand new to you. This book also goes into information regarding conservation, and the protection of endangered animals, and has some fun activities for you.

What I Liked: I love a good advent calendar and this book called my name as it would give me something to read daily. The illustrations throughout this book bring the animals to life and the short passages regarding the animals provide a great introduction to younger readers who may not have a long attention span. This brief paragraph regarding the animal is enough to pique someone’s interest and have them look up more information should they want to.

Each month you receive two pages with a specific theme with animals per day that interact with that theme. The facts included through the animals on those pages are specific to the theme. For example, in May you get migration and desert survival so those pages tell you about animals who migrate or that live in the desert and their survival tactics.

This book closes with information regarding endangered animals and conservation success stories. This is a great way to introduce these concepts to children and spark an interest in conservation. The pages on endangered animals and conservation provide ways that individuals can help with these efforts and things we can do regularly to assist.

Final Verdict: An Animal a Day is a great way to learn fun facts about familiar animals and introduce new animals that you may not have heard about yet. This book is great for children ages 6 and up who love animals and would love to learn more about all creatures. Adults will also enjoy learning new fun facts about animals and thinking about them in a different light.
