Return to Panem in this oversized deluxe edition, featuring a full-page black and white illustration in every chapter. Key moments include Gale and Katniss in the woods, the proposal, Finnick, and numerous dramatic arena shots. The art style, reminiscent of woodcuts, powerfully communicates both the rugged conditions in District 12 and the drama of the capital and the 75th Hunger Games.
This was a long-overdue re-read for me. The full sinister motives of the capital stood out in a way they hadn't before, and the pages flew quicker than ever (possibly in part because this edition leaves generous margins).
All together, the illustrations, patterned end pages, and printed foil hardcover make this a striking edition for new and old fans alike.
