I loved, loved, loved Cool Green!
Seen through the eyes of a Latino landscaper who loves trees and his granddaughter who is beginning to wonder, we are travel from mountain tops, into forests and onto islands, each one brimming with unique and extraordinary trees, each one telling its miraculous connection to the natural world.
I love that it is written in both English with Spanish questions/phrases. This is a great way to introduce the Spanish language to young children eager to learn.
Each two-page spread includes an illustrations of a real piece of flora that brings life, texture and realism, as well as scientific facts, and I love the "hidden" animals in each scene.
At the end of the book, you can read the authors note, where they speak of their favorite tree and their research. You will also find information about the trees mentioned in Cool Green, as well as sited sources for further exploration.
A fantastic addition to our homeschool library, and definitely a book I see us referencing again and again.
