I like the covers for this series a lot and it's not just because of the guy's lip ring. Not really.
DECEIVING LIES, the sequel to FORGIVING LIES, isn't your average run of the mill "break up" book and I actually enjoyed it more than the first one. Told from alternating POVs, it still has it's issues, just like Rachel and Kash, (the excessive exclamation points are still distracting), but the characters themselves were much more interesting. (I want a Trip of my own now.)
FORGIVING LIES ended with a cliff hanger, one I thought was pretty clever on Molly McAdams part, and I expected that to be the starting point in this book, but it wasn't. Instead, it starts out a little before the end of book one, filling in scenes we as the reader aren't privy to and setting the stage for a roller coaster ride of action, suspense and severed body parts.
Yeah, you read that last part right.
The inclusion of Trent's character rocks the "Kash + Sour Patch Forever" love boat and leaves them both with questions about their future. Maybe, despite all they've already been through, and all that they continue to go through, they don't really want the same things after all.
Maybe pancakes aren't really their thing.
Maybe they are.
Maybe you'll just have to read it to find out for yourself. And those aforementioned severed body parts. You know you're curious. ;)
The epilogue ties up any lose ends and the sneak peak of CAPTURING PEACE gives a hint of what's coming next from McAdams. Fans will not be disappointed!
