6th grader Bea is having a hard time. I love that she is in a school of witches by accident, and now it's time for Halloween. There are decorations and tasks to be completed.
The book is set up in short chapters with diary entries written in the first person, and to add to the humor and connections, she corrects them. Bea is a fun character who is trying to fit in somewhere she doesn't belong but is trying to make the best of it in any way she can and keeping the newfound magic she learned from her dad. The illustrations included in the diary entries add to the overall feeling that reading can be fun and that there are different styles of books to read.
