FLOOF is a delightfully silly board book about a cat. Floof is very floofy and good at making trouble around the house on his very busy day. For instance, Floof ignores his food and instead eats the people food, ruins a computer for his very important work, and takes the ball from the neighboring dog, who is not his friend - unlike the mice who eat all the food in Floof's house. The simple text tells a somewhat different story from the illustrations that show all the antics Floof gets up to during the day.

What I loved: This was absolutely a delightful and silly read that young readers are sure to giggle at. Floof has plenty of antics shown throughout the story, and the pictures really tell the story of what he does during the day. The text does not always tell the whole picture, and the images are definitely needed for the contrast with reality. Children will love this juxtaposition and find joy in the (mostly mild) trouble.

The text is very simple with few words on each page, letting the images tell the story. As such, it's also a great pick for early readers, who can decipher it themselves, and for word recognition as caregivers read aloud. The simplicity adds to the fun of the story of a cat who lives life on his own terms and the trouble he creates along the way.

Final verdict: FLOOF is a delightful and engaging picture book about cat with plenty of antics that is sure to make readers giggle. I would recommend this for older preschoolers and young elementary aged readers that love a bit of trouble and exploring illustrations.
