Review Detail
4.4 14In this sequel to Crank, Kristina is being a mom to Hunter and is clean. Then she decides she's bored with her life and gets into drugs again. Things go from bad to worse, but this story is just Crank revisited - maybe a little stronger, definately a lot more dysfunctional. Kristina thinks she can control the drug use. She can't. She progressively becomes totally addicted and neglects her family and her son. I was not able to like Kristina in this book. She becomes involved in a romantic relationship with a player, starts dealing - then heavy duty dealing, shows no responsibility, no remorse, and no real soul in this book. Her mother has no patience for her after the first quarter of the book and rightfully so, I had the same feeling. I ended up caring more about the secondary characters, like Hunter, Brad, Kristina's mom and sister. The ending of the book is pretty expected, and even then Kristina is not realistic. It will no doubt resonate more with teens.
