Using collage for the pictures, Carin Berger’s bedtime story, GOOD NIGHT! GOOD NIGHT! Is a sweet story of the bedtime routine—with some silliness thrown in to keep things interesting. Using repetition, Berger leads readers through the bedtime ritual with Mother Rabbit and her three little ones. Mother plays along as her children interject dances, monsters, tickles, and more into the more typical stories, songs, hugs, and kisses that come with bedtime. The mother is patient, and then she’s firm when it’s time to go to bed, and her three little bunnies finally settle down for sleep.

The collages in GOOD NIGHT! GOOD NIGHT! are great, and the use of first dark, then lighter, then dark again backgrounds help lead readers toward sleepiness. They radiate coziness and warmth, and the illustrations combine with word repetition to sooth and delight parents and preschoolers. “Charming” is the word that comes to mind with regard to the book, and I definitely recommend it.

My thanks to YA Books Central and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honet review.
