This story is a dark and powerful retelling inspired by Hekate from Greek mythology. I went into this book already really interested in the topic, especially because growing up Hekate was actually one of my favorite goddesses to learn about. Because of that, I was really excited about how the story would portray her. Thankfully, the book ended up being a really enjoyable read.

No Spoilers!
One thing that stood out to me right away is that the story is written completely in verse. Normally longer books written in poem form can feel difficult to get through, but this one flowed surprisingly well. The style made the story feel emotional and intense, especially when it explored themes like power, anger, and self-discovery. A lot of the book focuses on female strength and the idea of reclaiming power, which made parts of it feel really inspiring.

I also liked how the story blends mythology with a more personal and emotional perspective. Different gods and mythological elements appear throughout the book, but the focus stays strongly on Hekate and her journey. The author manages to build something that feels both creative and connected to the original myths at the same time. Because I already enjoy reading about Greek mythology, it was fun seeing familiar figures appear in new ways.

Overall, this was a dark, thoughtful, and creative retelling that mixes mythology with poetry and strong emotional themes. For readers who enjoy Greek mythology, witchy themes, and stories about female empowerment, this is definitely a unique and memorable read.
