Lyra has been kidnapped by her mother, Mrs. Coulter who is keeping Lyra in a sleep so she can not escape due to the prophecy that Lyra will play Eve. When Will saves her they are joined by some really small people who are trying to bring Will to Lyra's father so he can have Will on his side as well as the Knife in order to defeat Authority.
But WIll and Lyra pay no heed to his plea and then set out on a journey to free the people in the land of the dead.
This book ends the story really nicely and everyone will love it.

In this stunning conclusion top His Dark Materials Lyra is woken up from her sleep in which her mother Mrs. Coulter put her into. Then Lyra and her friend Will go out on a new mission: Find Roger (Lyra's dead friend). Lyra and Will make it to the Land of the dead and find Roger. With the knife they find a way to save the dead from an eternity of pain and suffering. But when Lyra and Will find that they cannot live in the same world together what will happen?

The last and final chapter in Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials Trilogy. This book manages to bring all the loose ends from the previews books into a magneficent resolution and not only stays in the mind of the reader as the story is being unfolded but the emotion remains for weeks to come.
Readers that enjoyed His Dark Materials Trilogy would also enjoy Lyra's Oxford, and the soon to be published The Book of Dust.
