I’ll Give You the Sun is a masterpiece of the Young Adult genre, perfectly incorporating the feel of what it is to be a teenager in today’s world, while turning the genre on its head by creating a masterful puzzle of grief, loss, and the darker side of families not so often addressed in the Young Adult genre.
Jandy Nelson juggles the dual perspectives and timelines masterfully, and readers will find themselves rooting for both characters in a way that is rare when faced with more than one main character. Noah and Jude are funny, flawed, and real, and this is a novel that should be on every young adult's bookshelf.
