Inhuman is a fast paced adrenaline ride. It is a post-apocalyptic dystopian meets fantasy kind of book. In this world a virus, Ferae, has changed human society. The effects of Ferae are chilling. Lane McEvoy, who has grown up in this society, is a young teenage girl finds herself thrown into an impossible mission and must fight at every corner to survive.
From the very beginning Inhuman grabs the reader's attention. It moves quickly and puts the reader right into the heart of the action with border agents, smuggling, and a dangerous virus. There are amazing characters:powerful people who you will love to hate and desperate people trying to figure out how to survive and feral mutants running throughout the east coast. Although at times events in the book seem convenient to the plot, Kat Falls' world building includes enough intricate details for the world to make sense within the story. The setting has a strong medical feel with infections, biohazards, and quarantines, but it does not drag the plot at all. The plot twists kept me turning pages for hours.
Inhuman will appeal to boys and girls alike and is a great read for middle schoolers.Readers who enjoy reading books like The Maze Runner and Legend will find Inhuman a thrill ride.
