My review of “Integration” (Book 2 of “The Bonfire Academy” series; Book 3 of “The Bonfire Chronicles”) By: Imogen Rose
Welcome Back to Bonfire Academy! Bonfire Academy is set in the foothills of the alpine mountains in St.Moritz. It is an exclusive private school that caters to a special kind of student, a “paranormal”; Demons, Witches, Fairies, Wanderers, Trolls, Shifters, Vampires, Hybrids, etc.
We are reintroduced to Cordelia, demon Princess of Paris, and mentor to Faustine (demon/human hybrid, and demon Princess of London). Faustine is also Heir to the demon throne of London; only she doesn’t that know yet. The prologue of this book sets it up to be the masterpiece that it is. You won’t want to stop reading it after the first two pages, trust me.
Cordelia, Jagger, and Quinn are back after graduating from BA and completing their enrichment years (optional year at the Academy to mentor an initiate, or further develop a skill). Cordelia is the apprentice to Professor Bern, head of the Department of Paranormal Powers and Control. (One of her favorite parts of the job is the fact that she doesn’t have to wear the school uniform)! Cordelia will be assisting Professor Bern with her “tests” on the students; tests aimed to help them achieve their goal to graduate. The goal of Integration year is to be able to control your powers, and be able to integrate with humans and different paranormals alike.
At Bonfire Academy, Faustine is entering into her second year, her Integration year. Being a human/demon hybrid, Faustine is concerned that she will not graduate this year due to the challenges hybrids face (especially the first human hybrid at the Academy, ever).
Mason (the antagonist in the first book of the series) is back to his old tricks again. His father, Monsieur Drasco, managed to get him back into the Academy after he was expelled for almost killing Cordelia the previous year.
The love triangle of Jagger, Quinn, and Cordelia is also back in action. She does finally chose who she wants to be with in this book. Which may make some happy and some upset (Team Quinn or Team Jagger).
Once again Imogen Rose takes us into their world and doesn’t let up. You will constantly be thrown off; this author knows how to keep you on your toes!
My favorite parts of this book have to be the addition of Haikus. My favorite one being: “A boyfriend missing A lover must pay in blood A princess must die”. There are other awesome ones as well, but you will have to read for yourself to find out!
Side note: To any of the readers who have read Imogen Rose’s other books (The Portal Chronicles), you will be BLOWN AWAY. Imogen Rose has a writing style unlike anything I have ever seen. She manages to take you into her imagination and become a part of her world. Her characters pop up in places so unexpected. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. No question about it, it’s a MUST READ!
*THE EPILOGUE will have you screaming for more. And those are the BEST kind of books!
