This story details a young girls' chores on her parents' dairy farm, going into detail about the day-after-day task of milking in her family's life. I was pleased to be able to have an interesting, poetic account of where our milk comes from--one that conveys the simple beauty and commitment that is required of a dairy farmer in order to bring our milk to the table. The pictures illustrate the evening milking, and they add so much to the story with warm, sunset-light filled scenes. I think this book makes a beautiful addition to any collection, but is particularly significant for "foodies" like myself, who want to teach our children about where our food comes from. This is a quaint book that will not only interest your children but brings a kind of nostalgia as you read, even if you didn't grow up on a farm.
