An enchanting fantasy.
The story:
Joshua thinks his father is dead. He's been led to believe he's had a heroes death, only that may not be true. Joshua sees his father in his dreams. In need of answers, he travels across the land with his best friend, meeting many others along the way. Magical creatures. Danger. Even a little love. It's a grand adventure.
What I loved:
Joshua himself is a fantastic character. Brave. Honest. Sweet. It makes it easy to root for him and Sarah. The story shows great imagination just through characterization. Each of the people to join their little traveling party brings something to the table.
Great formatting and editing wrap the book up nicely.
What was just okay:
The world isn't as fleshed out as I would have liked, lacking the bit of detail that would make it truly special.
Final verdict:
A great fantasy full of magic, danger, intrigue, and romance that'll have young readers glued to the pages.
