King's Cage was an unpredictable book. It continues where Glass Sword left off with Mare being held prisoner by King Maven. The beginning of the book starts off a bit slow and kind of depressing as Mare is unable to escape or use her powers for months. Meanwhile, the Scarlet Guard tries to overthrow Maven and it is told from Cameron's perspective which I totally did not expect. It was good to learn more about her.
The plot was great and interesting. Victoria Aveyard really knows how to draw readers in.
There were also a lot of twists and turns and so many unpredictable alliances and events.
The book really picked up when Mare finally escaped, used her amazing lightning and was reunited with Cal, her friends and family.
It was another surprise when there was also chapters from Evangeline's perspective as she reveals more about herself and her family. Something I also did not expect. And all the fight scenes were really action packed and something I didn't know I was really waiting for. The last battle scene was really interesting and so was the ending. I'm really excited to see where the next book will go.
