I read Lolli's Apple last month. I cannot get the descriptions and images out of my mind, not because of their cruelty but because of their strength. Every time I see a woman or child or man on the street I picture that person in that situation, protecting, hurting or being six year old Tomas on a cattle train, in a gas chamber, arriving at Auschwitz, being told he was about to die. I am not sure the human race is so human after all. I will say reading this book will change your life for the better in unexpected ways. I have become much stronger. I don't whine about stupid stuff these days. And I stand up for people too. Just the other day there was a fellow at the supermarket struggling with English and someone in the line made a rude rascit remark and in front of everyone I brought it to everyones attention and gave him a barrage of my thoughts on his humanity and a few other folk joined me. Yay! I hope it has this effect in all who read it. Go ahead. It will change your life.
