Mama’s Panza is a book that will hold more meaning to the mother reading the story. It is about a boy saying all the positive things about his mother’s panza (belly) like he can hide behind it when he’s shy or cuddle on it when he needs comfort. It is a nice reminder for the mother reading this book that our bellies carried and provided for our babies. It is a love note to be thankful for our body that gave us the children we love. In a world that is often harsh regarding some extra pounds, this book is a gentle way of showing us how to be kind to ourselves and the way we mothers think of our bodies post-partum. It also shows that our children don’t see the pounds, they see the involved parent who loves all parts of them like they love all of us. It is text-heavy, so it is better suited for those with longer attention spans or for the older end of the target audience if a preschool child is reading it with a grown-up. Overall, this is the kind reminder that most moms need while growing and raising small ones.
