‘Meet Donkey Hodie!’ by Patty Michaels, a book from the Donkey Hodie collection, part of Fred Rogers Productions, introduces the characters from the PBS Kids TV show, Donkey Hodie. They all live in Someplace Else, where everyone goes to live in order to follow big dreams they may have.

Donkey Hodie’s grandpa, Grampy Hodie, lives there, and he is a wonderful fixture in Donkey’s life, always telling her how she can do big things. Donkey’s best friend is Purple Panda, a sweet, lovable panda bear who just so happens to be purple. He is especially neat because he has a spaceship that he and Donkey like to travel in from time to time. They go to visit Puprle Panda’s mom on Planet Purple.

Duck Duck is another friend of Donkey’s. She loves to read and make plans, and she is always happy to be with Donkey Hodie. Then there’s Bob Dog, Donkey’s orange doggy friend. The two like to play catch together. Bob Dog also loves baking. Harriet Elizabeth Cow comes next. As an inventor and artist, she is always making new things for all of the friends in Someplace Else to try out.

This book is a sweet, easy introduction to the Donkey Hodie cast of characters. Readers will feel like they know them a bit better before checking out the TV show and other similar books.
