15 year old Clary Fray is stuck in between the human world and a world full of all the different types of monsters and mythical creatures you could ever imagine. After her mother is kidnapped by the most sinister and evil shadowhunter ever to exist in this world ever, Clary realizes that her normal Brookklyne life may not be as normal as she would have wished. With the help of her new shadowhunter friends, Jace, Isabelle and Alec, Clary learns the truth about her life and what her mother had been hiding from her since she was born. Cassandra Clare writers The Mortal Instruments Trilogy with expertise and cleverness, including almost every aspect of the fictional world.

I began reading it in the book store because I wasn't sure if I would actually like it enough to buy it. After one chapter, I headed for the counter. I finished all three in the series in a month and am eagerly awaiting the fourth. If you are a fan of Twilight, make The Mortal Instruments your next read!

This book was wonderful maybe even better than Twilight but it was ruined by Jace being Clary's brother when they were deeply in love.It was like finding out that Edward and Bella from Twilight were related and couldn't be together. But overall a great book.

City of Bones is one of the best books I have ever read. It is a suspenseful book that keeps me on the end of my seat. I would recommend this book to anyone over ten years old. I, Mitch, as an eleven year old I would love to read the rest of the series.

The book City of Bones by Cassandra Clare is an absolutely riveting book full of twists and turns  and it is a book that has many of the aspects that I look for in a book . Romance, suspense, fantasy, mystery and so much more. Think along the lines of Twlight. A  quick summary of the book: A girl named Clary can see a different World, the Shadow World, full of demons, vampires and werewolves and those who are comitted to protecting the humans, Shadowhunters. When Clary witnesses a demon slaying by the Shadowhunters in a club she is thrown into their world of danger and mystery and shocking revelations along with a blooming romance. A spectacular book!

I know that many people will not agree with me on this, and I understand, but I personally like this series better than the Twilight Saga. Don't get me wrong, Twilight is way up there on my list of favorites, but City of Bones is probably at the top. I love how Cassandra Clare can switch from one character's point of view to anothers so easily and smoothly, and how each character's voice is so unique, you can tell them apart immediatly.
I don't want to give too much away, so if you haven't read these books yet, read my very quick and vague summary and trust me, its amazing.
This book is for people who like adventure/fantasy/sci-fi/love stories. If you like twilight, you will most likely love this book, because it has the love story going throughout the plot, but its not the entire story. Twilight is a little more normal life-ish, with everyone acting human and going to high school. City of Bones is a bit more out-there, some characters not even being human at all and not trying to act human either. Jace, one of the main  characters, is one of those people who always have a sarcastic comment or come back, which are usually hilarious. People around you may stare due to sudden giggles and snorts of surpressed laughter.  Oh, and I should warn all teenage girls; if you are prone to falling for fictional characters, you will fall hard and fast for the main guy. Who is Edward again?

If you liked Twilight, you'll love this. If you didn't like Twilight, you'll love this because The Mortal Instruments trilogy is so much better.

In City of Bones, Clary finds out that the her hometown of New York isn't filled with regular New Yorkers. Instead, it's filled with Shadowhunters, Fae people, Demons, Vampires (not Twilight vamps) and werewolves (not Twilight wolves). She also finds out that she isn't who she thinks she is and falls for a boy who she shouldn't fall for.

Ah, the joys of this book could go on forever. Clare has amazing charaters. They are original and witty. It's full of action, twists and a tension filled romance. Oh, and for the boys out there...you'll love this. It isn't a sappy romance.

Okay, so when i started the first book it was a good thing that i already had bought the other two books of this series because i didn't stop reading this book until i was finished with the third book. then i went on the internet looking for ideas of what book to read next because this book made me want to keep on reading even when it was over.

The story starts out about a girl named clary who has lived an ordinary life up until a day that she witnesses a demon being killed that she shouldn't even be able to see, much less those who killed it. then the next night after witnessing the murder there is an attack that leaves her mother missing and she comes to an institute with the guy who murdered the demon and begins to learn many things about herself that her mother hid from her.

i don't want to give away too much but this book starts an eventful and addicting series. i would recommend this book to those who like science fiction and fantasy books like harry potter and such. there is even a slight romance mixed into the novel that isn't too overpowering for guys, but might keep a girls attention if she isn't into the fantasy part that much.

Read it!

this was an aweosme book. clare has out done her self this time and this is a masterpiece!!!! i never even thought of downworlders and goblins and gouls. only vamps and werewolfs because of twilight. i love twilight and for a while i have been very interested in vamps but it got hard to read vamp books after twilight because everything explained them differently which is fine but once you have read these books you'll understand my concept. anyway this book is amazing iand i cant wait to go get the sequal city of ashes!!!!!

City of Bones captures the attention of everyone that reads the book!  Clary and Jace are two amazing characters that are good at keeping their love for each other under control but long for each other at the same time.  I absolutely LOVE this book and the rest of the Mortal Instrument series!
