Good Points
Realistic series of 'journal entries' by gay high school freshman accurately reflects the era. Engaging main character suffering from (undiagnosed) bouts of depression deals with an unwanted reputation, a family slowly disintegrating under the stress of societal change and the Vietnam War, and the confusions of falling in love with another boy.
