With informative and easy to understand prose, this refreshing look at the world's most memorable photographs is a perfect choice for photography and art classes. The content would appeal to upper elementary or middle grade level students, in particular. The book features interesting, well-chosen facts of culture and history, and organized the content into an appealing format. Treating the photographs as subjects of art and culture studies is a novel approach, and this is done in a very user friendly way.
I would highly recommend Thomson's collection to younger art and photography students, and to public and school library collections. Youth who are personally interested in photography may also find the book to be an inspiration for new projects.
