Brian the Pig loves to wear his jeans, even though his best friend, Nathan (a unicorn), and other people in his life question why he does. They are more suited to his lifestyle and temperate than other clothing, AND they have pockets that he can fill up with an amazing assortment of supplies. Since Brian is able to help out so many people thanks to his preparedness. he is given less grief about wearing jeans.
Good Points
Brian is rather long suffering, since even Nathan doubts the wisdom of being decked out in denim until Brian manages to unearth an entire pizza from his pockets! There are some excellent facial expressions as well. I did question the wisdom of decorating cupcakes with jelly beans and popcorn from a pig's pants pockets, but since I don't have to eat the resultant baked goods, I won't think too much about it, even though Brian also digs out a stinky sock for another friend. Was it in the other pocket?
This has some of the friendship antics of McDonald's Bunny and Clyde, the lessons in kindness and helping out of Peacock's Marvelous Margot, and the pig main character of Benjamin's I'm a Prince, but is really rather singular. Harrell's middle grade graphic novels with Bat Pig (When Pigs Fly) also offer a variety of clothing styles for pigs (why do some wear only pants, when some wear only shirts?), so there's clearly a lot more thought to be given to porcine sartorial choices. Pig in Jeans also have a number of other titles, including the intriguingly titled I'm Moving: New House, Same Underwear.
