I found this classic to be way more entertaining than I expected, especially for something written so long ago. I went in thinking it might feel slow or overly formal, but it actually has a lot of personality, humor, and drama once you get into it.

The story follows Elizabeth Bennet, who is honestly one of the best parts of the book. She is smart, sarcastic, and not afraid to speak her mind, which makes her feel surprisingly modern. Her dynamic with Mr. Darcy is what really drives the story. At first, they completely misunderstand each other, and a lot of their conflict comes from pride, assumptions, and social expectations. Watching that relationship shift over time is what makes the book so satisfying.

What I liked most is that it is not just a romance. It is also about family, reputation, and the pressure of society, especially for women. The Bennet family dynamic adds both humor and stress to the story, and characters like Mrs. Bennet bring a lot of chaotic energy that keeps things interesting. There are also moments where you can see how limited women’s choices were, which adds more depth to the story.

The writing style can take a little getting used to, but once you adjust, it actually flows pretty well. There is a lot of subtle humor and irony in the way things are described, and it makes the characters feel more real. It is not just serious or dramatic. It has a lot of witty moments that balance everything out.

Overall, I found Pride and Prejudice to be a really enjoyable and well-written classic. It lives up to its reputation because of its strong characters, relatable themes, and the way it blends romance with social commentary.
Good Points
Strong, memorable main character with wit and personality

A romance that develops through growth and understanding

Insightful look at society, and expectations that still feel relevant today

This is not just a book. This is Regency glamour encased in gold foil.

The moment I saw the Deluxe Painted Edition, my self-control dissolved faster than Lydia Bennet spotting a handsome officer. I mean have you seen this cover? Laci Fowler’s hand-painted artwork feels like someone bottled the essence of Austen and brushed it across the hardcover with pure magic. The embossing, the gold foiling, the shimmering page edges it’s basically Regency glamour meeting modern bookish indulgence, and I’m absolutely here for it.

Holding this edition feels like holding a little piece of literary history, except this piece is dressed up in its finest ball gown. The story-inspired details hidden in the cover design made me feel like I was in on a secret with the artist and honestly, Elizabeth Bennet would approve. And the decorative interior pages? They’re sprinkled with quotes I wanted to underline, highlight, whisper dramatically into the wind but didn’t, because this copy is way too pretty to deface.

Rereading Pride and Prejudice in this edition felt like rediscovering old friends in a beautifully lit ballroom. Elizabeth’s wit sparkled just a bit brighter, Darcy’s awkward charm felt extra satisfying, and the social tensions of love, pride, and class still hit with that timeless Austen sharpness. Somehow, the painted cover made the whole experience feel richer like the story was unfolding inside a keepsake instead of just a book.

If you’re a collector, a romantic, or simply a person who can be seduced by gold foiling hi, it’s me, this edition is a genuine treasure. It’s the kind of book you keep forever, display proudly, and maybe pet lovingly when no one is looking.

"You must learn some of my philosophy. Think only of the past as its remembrance gives you pleasure."

OMG, I'm going to have a Pride and Prejudice hungover, I can feel it in my bones! But luckily I realized there's a shiteload of retellings out there and I need to get my filthy hands on them as soon as possible!

I loved this story, it dragged a bit in certain points, but it got me fangirling like an idiot and I rarely do that when reading romances. Jane Austen, you did it again!

Mr Bennet is my favourite literary dad of all time, so sassy and nonchalant, every line of his pure gold!

"If any young men come for Mary or Kitty, send them in, for I am quite at leisure."

Loved it, I cannot wait to get to all the other works by dear ol' Jane!

This is the first and only Jane Austen book I have read. I plan on reading more of her work, though! It is a truly beautiful book, but it was hard for me to read. I’m just not used to reading such a different writing style, but I loved it nonetheless. It is funny, which surprised me! And Elizabeth and Darcy are so amazing together. Lizzies dad was my favorite!

Reading this book is like coming home to an old friend. It never fails to delight me. I also never fail to find something new in the story each time I read it, some little nuance or statement that I failed to see before that makes the characters all the more real to me. I love this book.

Pride and Prejudice is one of the most awesome boooks ever on earth.
The main character Elizabeth Bennent is a stong headed girl and takes orders from no one except herself. At a ball she meets the handsome Mr.Darcy whom everybody claims is a stuck up man. Elizabeth swears that she will never marry him and will loathe him for all eternity. But as their lives get enterwined in an unexpected adventures the very same person she swore to loathe for all enternity she cannot resisit.

Pride and Prejudice is a very well written book by Jane Austen.
A joy from start to finish. You may not be able to put it down.

This book was lovely, Jane Austen is one of the best authors Ive ever read. It makes you want to be there with Elizabeth, a really strong and powerful female character that secretly and slowly falls in love with Mr. Darcy, who admires and loves her.
The poor Elizabeth suffer because of her family, but she never blames them, she is alwasys there giving her love and support to her sisters, mother an father.
I really like this book, one of my favorites, you will fall in love with it, and with Mr. Darcy too!!!

This book show pure and simple love in its beginning stages if development. The relation of jane and mr.bingley shows that sometime a relationship just works. The relationship between elizabeth ad mr.darcy is unchartered waters that seem very dangerous to elizabeth, and when she finds out about some of the things that m.dracy has done she write him off as a jerk without even finding out from him what really and truely happened.
