This was definitely something I hadnt read before. Not many books deal with the controversy of religion but this touched on it in a way that did not overwhelm the reader. Essie was genuinely confused as are many teenagers out there and I think many people can also relate to her in the way of her struggle between two cliques in school. Also, Essies backstory was heartbreaking and very realistic. This is a great novel to read when one needs a pick-me-up. Sometimes the issues in another's life can help you feel better about your own.
