An HP Reference? In 2026? Really?
(Updated: June 07, 2026)
Listen, I was loving this book. It was funny and witty and all the things I love about a contemporary novel.
But then the author threw in a Harry Potter reference and I suddenly didn’t want to keep going. It’s 2026. I shouldn’t have to be enjoying a book and then be triggered by a reference to a book by an author who is actively trying to harm me and people like me. And this is a queer novel, so it’s even worse that there was a reference to a book written by this author because people in this community should be looking out for each other. Do better.
