Clementine and Logan are now with the rebels, eager and ready to take down Commander Charlie. Clementine’s current mission is to go into the work camps and weaken the infrastructure. But as determined as she is, the enemies surround everyone, and it may prove impossible to make it out safe.

REBELLION is a quick read, full of fast action that keeps the reader turning the page. There is rarely a dull moment, and Stephanie Diaz does a wonderful job of moving the story where it needs to go in a timely and efficient manner. There is a constant string of suspense and worry throughout the narrative, given how close Clementine and her friends are to danger, and this easily makes for a fast paced read.

Where some of the characters feel into an awkward fit in the previous novel, most have a solid place now, such as Beechy. Diaz captures the feel of a rebellion perfectly, keeping characters on edge, quick to anger, but even quicker to fight back against the injustice they face.

As with the first book, the plot is largely predictable. There is one surprising twist with a character that works very well, and I never saw it coming. However, Commander Charlie continues to read as a standard, flat villain, and even Logan, the love interest, is once again barely present in the story. There is little development within characters outside of Clementine. The author does do a nice job of balancing a large number of characters and appropriately reminding the reader who is who if the character hasn’t appeared for a while.

Overall, readers might not find anything new in REBELLION, but fans of this genre and series will be delighted for another enjoyable and adventurous story.
