Sleepless

I found Sleepless in the school library after being told that we're doing a project in english involving reading a book. No big deal.

The cover is amazing. Kind of cliche, but it makes you think. So a girl is wearing those eye cover things you use to sleep sometimes, and there's blood streaming out from behind it. E.W.

At 209 pages, this book is a bit shorter than I usually read, but this is for a class, so I didn't want to pick too big a book just in case I didn't like it. Because either way, I still have to read it. So, it's best that it's short.

I have high hopes for this book. I'm hoping that it will be scary, yet not too gory. It's hard to find a good book/movie that knows how to differentiate between the two.

So, I know by the blurb that Emma, the main character, starts having dreams, and she kills people in her sleep. Then people in her school start to have the dreams too, and kill people. They have to work together to stop themselves from killing anyone else.

I didn't expect to like this book. I mean, Sandmen? The last time I even heard that word was when I was six and had trouble sleeping. My parents would tell me to talk to the Sandman until I feel asleep. Yeah, right. But as I started the book I was introduced to something heart-wrenching. The pain of losing a loved one and the regrets, could've,should've,would've. Everyone gets these feelings, why couldn't Sandmen? Although he insisted he wasn't human anymore, Eron had human feelings and emotions. He still cared for the beings he kept watch over. Eron was my favorite character in this book. Julia was another person one could relate to but she was still confused about who she was and what niche she fell into. After the death of her boyfriend, Griffin, she changes as a person. Griffin was another interesting character. In the beginning you didn't think he cared for Julia but over time you realized he did. He didn't realize what was best for her. Enough of my rambling. The point is, this book had awesome characters, a great storyline and it was fast read. Definitely pick this one up in the future!

Thomas Fahy's "Sleepless" is a page-turner about a  group of teenagers who, since coming back from a volunteering project in New Orleans, have been having gruesome, unnerving nightmares. What's worse is that when they wake up, they are not where they were when they fell asleep. Or at least, not the same way they fell asleep. Soon, another student from Saint Opportuna Catholic High School is found dead. It becomes too clear that they are killing in their sleep. But who is making them - and will they be able to stop it before anyone else is murdered?
